Limitations to the Study
While benefits of exercise are plentiful, there are some limitations to the study that critics have highlighted. The criticism generally is based on the premise that there is no direct relationship between exercise and depression.
It is to say, that exercise does not lead to any changes in the person’s mood. Moreover, depression may hinder you from resorting towards exercise in the first place.
That works the other way round as well. People who have had a healthy mental state of mind will be more inclined to go out and exercise.

In addition to the above criticism, some scientists have also argued that depression is caused by a different genetic makeup. Because the condition has to do with the complications within the genes, any external factor will have no role whatsoever.
