Why Vitamin Water isn’t necessarily healthy for your body?

From a number of research studies, we have established that soft drinks are not a good idea. They can lead to serious complications like diabetes, heart disease etc. It is pertinent for everyone to keep the intake to minimal. As a result, people look out for alternatives to soft drinks. Vitamin Water happens to be one.

It is commonly believed and considered that Vitamin Water is healthy for the person. The merchandise company would advertise the product containing all the essential nutrients required by the body. As the name would possibly suggest, Vitamin Water contains a lot of vitamins!

But is that really the case?

Now according to one recent study, the drink may not be healthy as you normally perceive it to be. Scientists associated with the research have put forward two main propositions to argue against the usage of Vitamin Water.

It contains added sugars

You were mistaken if you thought Vitamin Water contains no added sugar. In fact, in most cases, the amount of sugar is similar to that present in soft drinks.

Therefore, literally, there is no such advantage of shifting away from colas. Because the so-called “alternative” in the form of Vitamin Water is just another sugary beverage. This thing surprises a lot of people who at the end of the day do not realize that drinking it puts them at a higher risk of obesity.

Researchers studying the risk factors of obesity found sweetened beverages to be the top contributors. Excessive usage can be harmful and may have a list of possible consequences. Consuming sugary drinks increase your risk by almost 60% of being inflicted with obesity-related complications. Unfortunately, children are also among the group at a greater risk.

Anyhow, what you should infer from all of this is that Vitamin Water can lead to weight gain. Firstly, as we have found out that it contains a high amount of sugar. One other related consequence is that it increases the appetite of the person. It propels you to eat more even when you have satiated yourself with the drink. As a result, the person ends up eating more than what he/she should be eating.

It may not necessarily supply with essential nutrients

One additional thing you get to hear a lot about Vitamin Water is that it provides the body with the majority of the essential nutrients. It is advertised to contain zinc, iron, and of course vitamins.

While it is true that the drink may supply a portion of the nutrients, the net effect is really minimal. The required daily intake is fulfilled by just a meagre 30 to 40%. Most importantly, only Vitamin B and Vitamin C will be present in the drinks. Other types, that are also required by the body are mostly excluded.

One other thing important to note is that Vitamin B and C are water-soluble vitamins. In just very rare cases, they might not be found in a person’s average diet. At the same time, unfortunately, they are secreted out of the body through urine when taken in excessive amount.

So, the point being the exaggeration about the number of Vitamins in Vitamin Water may not yield any health benefits at all.
