Hanging out with female friends can make a woman healthier & happier

If you like hanging out with your friends, then there is a piece of good news for you. According to a recent study, women who give more time to their female friends tend to remain much healthier. This might surprise some people out there!

Now you should get up from your bed and try fitting in with your friends. No matter what you do with them. Be it a visit to the nearest coffee store or sitting in a circle in a park. It doesn’t matter what the situation is as long as you are able to stick with them.

The research findings were conducted at the University of Oxford. Scientists associated with the study aimed at finding ways for a woman to stay happy and satisfied with her life. While a number of such steps were identified, being surrounded with girlfriends happen to top the list.

Let us look further into what the findings revealed.

What the study found?

The research was headed by Professor Robin Dunbar who also specializes in the field of psychology. According to Mr. Dunbar, a woman’s mental and physical well being is a primary concern for medical experts. It has been an ongoing issue and a lot of research is being put into place to arrive at a viable conclusion.

Henceforth, a team of scientists led by Mr. Dunbar observed the behavior of women participants over the course of the study. In the end, it was revealed that females who hung out with other female friends remained healthy. They were known to be more physically active and energetic. At the same time, their mental-wellbeing showed signs of massive improvement.

Interestingly enough, there were some other observations that are worth noting.

Firstly, women who met their best friends about twice every week remained far more satisfied with their life.
Moreover, the topic of discussion was mostly gossips or recent trends in the fashion industry. Most women, at the same time, preferred meeting their friends over a glass of beer than anything else.

By following such a routine, women were able to yield plenty of health benefits for herself. Some of them as highlighted by the scientists are mentioned below.

  1. Lower levels of anxiety and stress
  2. Quicker recovery from illnesses
  3. Better immune system

What the study tells about socializing?

The results of the research should tell you a lot about what you should be doing to keep yourself and physically fit.

It certainly sounds fun to hang out with friends every now and then but it is easier said than done. Still in most countries, particularly the USA, time factor becomes a big constraint.

The daily pressure of work routine and looking after domestic chores make socializing difficult for women.

In fact, the findings revealed that about 40% of the US female population would not meet their friends for 3 weeks or so.

What is required is a better approach to manage the daily schedule. It must include the allocation of time for friends at least twice a week. It may seem demanding but there is much to gain than lose.
