Coconut Cream

If you are into baking, you have probably seen the use of coconut cream especially in the preparation of desserts. Full fat coconut cream can be a great alternative to heavy cream as it has the same consistency or texture.

To prepare coconut cream, all you have to do is chill a can of full-fat coconut milk and pour the liquid out once it is firm. Then, whip the cream and use in your foods.

Evaporated Milk

Evaporated milk is thicker than usual milk but has fewer calories in comparison with heavy cream. Hence, it is suitable for those who are looking for a healthier option. Also, evaporated mind does not whip very similar to heavy cream so keep in mind your food might have a slightly different texture.

Cashew Cream

This option is not only dairy-free but also suitable for vegans. It can be used in both desserts and savory food in the place of heavy cream.

To prepare cashew cream, soak cashews in water for around two hours. After the time has passed, drain the cashews and blend them with a pinch of salt and three-quarters of water. Store the cream in a jar in the fridge and whip it for use after it has hardened.

White Beans

Some people complain that alternatives to heavy cream do not work as well in savory foods. Try using a cup of purred white beans instead of heavy cream in foods like stews and soups. They will thicken the food, make you consume fewer calories and give a boost of proteins.
